2024 Cross-Cultural Study Tours
The Center for Bridging Cultures (CBC) is pleased to announce its 2024 Spring and Summer Cross-Cultural Study Tour program. This program will offer students a multi-faceted understanding of both traditional and contemporary aspects of Chinese culture while immersing them in the Chinese language environment. In addition, students will be able to engage with Chinese peers, making lifelong friendships and sharing common interests as a first step toward global citizenship. If you want to take part in meaningful cultural explorations and immersive Chinese language learning experiences with other passionate students, this program is for you! Tour A: Chinese Immersion + Robotics Technology Studies
Learning Chinese language offers many benefits when competing in the global market. What brings a greater benefit is learning Chinese language with studying robotics! This 14-day study tour will focus on the professional understanding of industrial robotics technology while immersing students into the Chinese language learning environment in Beijing, and Shanghai. Students will join their peers at vocational schools to work on STEM projects and visit cutting-edge robot manufacturing corporations.
Date: June 17 (leave the U.S. on June 16) – June 29, 2024
Eligibility: Current community college, four-year college, and high school students (between 16 and 21 years old); must be US citizens. Chinese language is NOT the first (home) language; Chinese language skills are recommended but not required.
Cost: You can choose one of the payment plan from below
Plan A: Administrative Fee $500, which covers all the travel expenses in China including meals, accommodations, domestic (intercity and intracity) transportation, corporate visits, STEM projects, immersive classes, site-seeing admissions, and guides and chaperones are all covered. Student participants must purchase international air flights.
Plan B: All-Inclusive Fee $3,000, which covers all costs including international flights.
When registering for the program, a photocopy of a valid passport must be presented.
Registration deadline: May 15, 2024. All participants are required to attend pre-departure language and cultural orientation.
Brief Itinerary
Day 1: In-flight
Day 2: Arrival at Beijing Capital Airport
Day 3 to Day 5: Palace Museum, National Museum of Science and Technology, Summer Palace, Great Wall
Day 6 to Day 14: Shanghai Museum, People’s Square, Jade Garden, The Bund, Robotic Manufacture Corporation Visits, Student Exchanges and Joint Projects, Lectures and Seminars,
Day 15: Return from Shanghai Pudong Airport (PVG)
All intercity transportation will be high speed railways. All intracity transportation will be tour buses.
Students will be paired to stay in two-bed hotel rooms.
Tour B: From Tradition to Contemporary Culture and Art in China
China is rich in its culture from ancient history to today. In this 14-day study tour, students will experience the authentic, classical “Four Treasures of Study” (brush, ink, rice-paper, and inkstone) with hands-on activities. Students will paint breathtaking landscapes, traditional art, and contemporary art in Shanghai. Students will use their creativity to work with Chinese art students for art projects.
Date: November, 2024
Eligibility: Current college and high school students who are enrolling in a visual arts program or have strong interest in visual arts (between 16 and 21 years old); must be US citizens. Chinese language is NOT the first (home) language; Chinese language skills are recommended but not required.
Cost: $1,000 administrative fee, which covers all the travel expenses in China including meals, accommodations, domestic (intercity and intracity) transportation, art studio visits, art projects, immersive classes, site-seeing admissions, and guides and chaperones are all covered.
Student participants must purchase international air flights, obtain legitimate US passports and Chinese visas, and purchase proper international travel insurance. When registering for the program, proof of valid airline tickets, photocopies of a valid passport and visa, and international travel insurance must be presented.
Registration deadline: May 31, 2024. All participants are required to attend pre-departure language and cultural instructions.

Please process the payment and email us a scanned copy of valid Chinese visa page, photocopy of passport photo page, and international flight itineraries.
Scholarships are available for students who are studying Chinese language and demonstrating dedication to Chinese language and culture. A 1-2 pages personal statement, resume, and a recommendation letter from your Chinese language instructors are required to apply for the scholarship.
